Overview of NComputing OfficeStation

Organizations looking to lower the cost of their information and communications infrastructure (ICT) are turning to thin client and server-based solutions -- only to find that while initial costs are indeed lower with most solutions, the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) remains high.

The modern PC is so powerful that it rivals yesterday's mainframe. In typical running of application, your PC use only about 10% of its computing power. The rest of the time, the computer sits idle. The NComputing OfficeStation enables you to dramatically cut computing costs by tapping into these unused computing cycles. The NComputing OfficeStation access terminal, Ethernet extension protocol, and terminal services software work together to efficiently harness excess computing capacity and enable multiple users to share a single PC Host - resulting OfficeStation terminals to function as independent PC without decreasing overall performance at other OfficeStation terminal. Best of all, IT staff and end users do not need special training because this end-to-end solution is easy to manage and is compatible with standard PC applications.

Based on NComputing's UTMA (Ultra Thin Multi Access®) technology. OfficeStation solutions harness the power of one host computer to deliver desktop PC functionality to a maximum of 30 users*, without requiring an additional CPU, hard drive or CD-ROM. Add more PCs to support more users. OfficeStation solutions come complete with all the software and hardware needed to ensure the system can do a Plug n Play.

Ideal for Various Business and Organizations

NComputing OfficeStation is a Network-based computing terminal, and it incorporates our proprietary server technologies of WoIP (Windows over IP) and LoIP (Linux over IP) over proprietary SoC (System on Chip) embedded with unique algorithm, which at the same time allows multiple users to share computing resources of CPU, Memory, HDD, etc. in one PC through Fast Ethernet connection. The maximum of 10(ten) OfficeStations (max. 30 when using server and server OS) can be served by one host computer. So, the total of eleven users including the user at host computer itself can enjoy individual computing experience using almost all of the applications in the host computer, such as web browsing, chatting, emails, Office Suites, etc. OfficeStation is multi user network computing terminal suitable for offices, hospitals, homes, call centers, training centers, school, computer labs, internet cafe, and other various organizations and business entity as well.

* The maximum number of users are vary depending on the configuration of the host PC, type of O/S and administration privileges. To achieve 30 OfficeStation users sharing one host computer, you must use Microsoft Windows 2003 Server or Linux. Windows 2000 and XP only allow up to 10 OfficeStation users per host computer.
